Gacha Pity System Explained (Scarborough Fair)
NTE doesn't use a traditional gacha pull screen. Instead, it uses a board-game system called Scarborough Fair — you roll dice, move a piece around a board, and land on tiles that reward characters, weapons, or materials.
The basics
- Cost: 160 Annulith per roll, 1,600 Annulith for a 10-roll (regardless of banner).
- Two board types: the Limited Board (time-limited featured characters, uses Solid Dice) and the Standard Board (permanent roster, uses Fabricated Dice). Both follow the same underlying rates.
No 50/50 — this is the big one
If you're coming from other gacha games, this is the detail that matters most: there is no 50/50 system. Any S-Class character you pull from a Limited Board is guaranteed to be the featured character. You will never lose your pull to a random standard unit the way you can in some other gacha games.
Pity thresholds
- Hard pity: guaranteed S-Class at 90 rolls without one appearing.
- Soft pity ("Board Modification"): kicks in around 70 rolls, sharply increasing your S-Class odds for the remaining rolls before hard pity.
- Base rate: roughly 1–2% per roll before soft pity (exact published figures vary slightly by source — check the in-game rate disclosure page for the precise current number, since this can shift between patches).
Pity carries over between banners
Your pity counter does not reset when a banner ends. If you're at 65/90 pity when "Character A's" banner closes, you start "Character B's" banner already at 65/90 — not from zero. This makes it much safer to pull on a banner you're unsure about, since unused pity progress is never wasted.
Weapon (Arc) pulls are separate
Arcs — the game's weapon system — have their own dedicated gacha using a different currency, and their own pity track (roughly 60 rolls for soft pity, guaranteed S-Rank Arc by around 80 rolls total). Arc pity is fully separate from character pity, so heavy weapon pulling won't eat into your character pity progress.
Practical budgeting tips
- Clear the Standard Board first if you're new — it offers a character selector and is generally the more efficient way to build a first team.
- Track your pity count before a new banner drops — if you're already deep into soft pity range, it's often worth finishing that banner out rather than saving into the next one.
- Don't convert your premium currency into pulls impulsively — since there's no 50/50 loss risk, a banner you're lukewarm on is a safer speculative pull than in other games, but it still costs the same resources.
Rates and pity thresholds are subject to change between patches. Always check the official in-game rate disclosure for the exact current numbers before making large purchases.
